Uniform

As a school, we have very clear principles about how our school uniform can reflect our aspirations and exceptional standards.

Our policy is based on the notion that a school uniform:

• Sets a tone for the high expectations of our school
• Creates uniformity and equality with all children
• Fosters a feeling of identity and belonging to the school
• Promotes pride amongst our children and a sense of feeling smart

The Role of Parents

We expect all parents to support the school uniform policy. We believe that parents have a duty to send their children to school correctly dressed and well-presented including a suitable hair style; ready for their daily schoolwork. Parents should ensure that their child has the correct uniform, and that it is clean and in good repair. Parents are also responsible for ensuring their children come to school in a coat suitable for the forecast weather conditions each day. During break times and lunch children will still be going outside even in cold windy conditions and light rain.

General Guidelines

• ‘Extreme’ haircuts are not permitted in school. ‘Extreme’ being any haircut that is considered by the school to be significantly different so as to cause distraction to others and therefore their learning and so not in keeping with the school’s ethos. Examples of haircuts not permitted include tram lines or equivalent, shaved sides with longer hair across the centre, use of hair products such as gel. This list is not exhaustive. When joining the school, parents/carers are expected to fully support this policy at all times.
• Long hair should be tied back at all times and short hair in a suitable style for school. Plain hair bands are permitted.
• No jewellery, except small, plain studs for pierced ears and wrist watches – both of which must be removed for P.E. (ear studs can be covered with plasters for the first few weeks until earrings can be safely removed).
• No make-up or nail varnish to be worn in school.
• Children may wear caps or hats to protect themselves from the sun or adverse weather conditions.
• All headwear must be of plain colour. These items are not to be worn indoors.
• Any request to change uniform on religious grounds can be discussed with the headteacher.
• Children in Reception – Year 4 need to use a school book bag. Children in years 5 & 6 can use a rucksack.
• All children need a clear & labelled water bottle bought into school daily.

Uniform Essentials

Main Uniform

• Hall Meadow logo Purple Jumper/Cardigan
• White Cotton Shirt (not a polo shirt)
• Grey Skirt, Pinafore or Trousers
• School Tie
• Black/Grey/white socks or tights
• Sturdy black outdoor footwear
  no boots or trainers (children may change into these for playtimes if required)
• Shoulder length hair tied back with small, school coloured hair bobbles and clips. Plain purple, black or neutral headbands can be worn.
• Green book bag

Optional in Summer term

• Purple checked summer dress or grey shorts

Optional Coat

• Purple reversible jacket ideal to wear as a school coat – fleece lined, shower proof with a fold away hood

PE uniform

• Purple logo polo shirt
• black shorts
• Plimsoles or plain trainers

Outdoor/Winter

• black tracksuit bottoms/leggings
• Grey hoodie with logo
